NDUGC Scratch Trophy

At our AGM of 2009 it was agreed to have a scratch tournament in memory of our immediate past President. The successful inauguration of this trophy took place at Southmoor GC in 2010.

Due to the extremely poor response this year your executive committee have unfortunately made the decision to CANCEL this years event.

The continuation of this event will be the subject of an item on this years AGM Agenda at Beamish Park GC on 21st Octoberr 2011

NDUGC Team Championship

The 2011 League Championship took place at Heworth Golf Club yesterday.

We had hoped that the event would once again open the League season. However fixture problems caused it to be delayed a few weeks. Hopefully it will return as the opening event for next season.

Despite the delay this fixture has once again proved to be a great success. Of the 22 member clubs, twenty teams of 5 players contested the NDUGC League Championship.

Our congratulations to the winning team from Whickham and the best individuals on the day John Scott of Heworth and Ian Metcalf of Boldon.

Our thanks to the host club Captain Maurice Dixon, Committee and members for enabling us to organise this event.Full details can be found under "News & Events" and selecting "Team Championship" tab.

CLUB RESIGNATIONS from NUDGC

All clubs will have received e.mails from our secretary regarding the resignations of Roseberry Grange and Mount Oswald from the NDUGC.

The situation was discussed at an Executive meeting on Wednesday 16th March 2011 and the following decision was agreed:

For the forthcoming Season, 2011 - One team will be promoted from Division 3 and two teams will be relegated from Division 2.

This will result in 8 teams in League 1, 7 teams in League 2 and 7 Teams in League 3 for Season 2012.

The situation regarding Mount Oswald is not financial and there may be a chance they could re-join the League for 2012. If this happens, then 2 teams will be promoted from League 3 this season which will result in 8 teams in League 1, 8 Teams in League 2 and 7 Teams on League 3 for Season 2012.

We will keep you informed - good luck for the coming season

Resignation of Roseberry Grange Golf Club from N.D.U.G.C.

Regrettably we have been informed by Roseberry Grange Golf Club that they will be unable to field a team in the 3rd Division of the Union for 2011 due to significant decreases in Membership levels. Consequently, there will now be 7 teams competing in League 3 for this season and the top two will be promoted to Division 2.

The  fixtures for Division 3 have been amended for the coming season. Basically Club's receive a bye where they would have played Roseberry.

These are uncertain times for golf clubs and we all wish Roseberry the best of luck for the future and assure them that should their position improve they will be welcome to rejoin the Union in the future.
